When the Keyboard Sits Untouched

The keyboard sat untouched for weeks.

Not because I didn’t want to play.

Because life got heavy.

Maybe that’s where you are today.

The instrument you love feels like a stranger.

The songs that once flowed now feel like effort.

The discipline you had feels like a memory.

And you don’t know how to begin again.

When Life Interrupts the Music

There are seasons when:

  • Responsibilities multiply
  • Energy decreases
  • Focus fades
  • Worship feels distant

You don’t quit intentionally.

You just slowly stop.

And the silence grows.

The Lie We Believe

We tell ourselves:

“If I can’t return at the same level I left, I shouldn’t return yet.”

So we wait.

Wait for:

  • More time
  • More strength
  • More motivation

But that waiting quietly stretches into weeks.

What I’m Learning

Coming back isn’t about perfection.

It’s about presence.

Today, I sat down for five minutes.

I didn’t:

  • Record anything
  • Plan anything
  • Practice scales
  • Measure progress

I just played.

Softly.

Simply.

Without pressure.

And it was enough.

Why Five Minutes Matters

Because worship isn’t sustained by discipline alone.

It’s sustained by connection.

You don’t need to rebuild everything in one session.

You don’t need to “make up for lost time.”

You just need to return.

Five minutes of presence

is stronger than weeks of guilt.

If You’re Coming Back Too

If your keyboard has been quiet…

If you feel behind…

If you feel disappointed in yourself…

Welcome back.

You don’t need to be where you were.

You don’t need to prove anything.

You just need to be here.

A Gentle Reminder

Growth isn’t linear.

Calling isn’t cancelled by silence.

Worship isn’t measured by streaks.

It’s measured by a willing heart.

Sit down.

Play one chord.

Breathe.

That’s enough for today.

Blessings,

Koti Abraham
