Most people think worship pads are about chords.
So they try to:
But still…
👉 It doesn’t sound like worship.
Why?
Because worship pads are not about more sound…
👉 They are about the right space.
Pads are not something you “play.”
👉 Pads are something you release.
The moment you understand this:
👉 This is what separates beginners from worship musicians.
The first rule is simple:
👉 Stop playing too much.
When you play too many notes:
Instead:
👉 Play fewer notes… and let them breathe.
Less notes = more presence
To create that modern worship sound, use:
👉 Sus2 chords
👉 Add9 chords
👉 Open voicings
These are not “advanced” chords.
👉 They are emotional shapes.
This is where most people go wrong.
They try to make the left hand “interesting.”
But in worship:
👉 The left hand should be simple and stable.
Just play:
And hold.
👉 Your left hand creates foundation, not complexity.
This is the most important part.
👉 Don’t rush.
Pads are not played quickly…
👉 They are allowed to ring and breathe.
Let the chord sustain.
Let the silence speak.
👉 Silence is part of worship.
Want to sound like modern worship teams?
It’s not about copying chords.
👉 It’s about control.
Focus on:
👉 Flow is everything.
Play this slowly with sustain:
👉 C → G → Am → F
👉 You will immediately hear the difference.
At this level…
You’re not just playing chords.
👉 You’re creating an environment
👉 You’re building atmosphere
👉 You’re helping people connect with God
